Kate Middleton | Somatic Therapist
If you really knew me, you would know:
I was born and raised in Canada (Victoria, BC). You can still hear it when I say process and about.
I spent many years trapped in cycles of disordered eating which lead me to yoga, meditation and eventually Somatics. My first Therapist introduced me to Somatic Therapy and is still a mentor of mine to this day.
My body did not feel like a safe place to live, trust or celebrate. I spent a long time developing ways to escape, and even longer on the return journey home. What I know for sure is that the Somatic descent back into yourself is always worth it.
I lived on a tiny island in Indonesia for 13 years with feet, horses and bicycles for transportation. My feet are wide and sturdy because of it.
I co-founded a Yoga and Freediving school when I was 20. I earned my business degree in blood, sweat and tears and am so grateful for it today.
As a Freediver, I set 18x National Records, won Silver in the World Championships and have been to 98 meters on a single breath. The least interesting question you can ask me is “how long can you hold your breath?”.
I stopped competing to immerse myself in Somatics and Authentic Relating. I still miss the simplicity of life as an athlete, but not the isolation.
I left Indonesia in 2020 because love and mountains and family summoned me home. I live in California now and I am still figuring out how to stay true in a place that loves perfection.
I have a wild side who loves to dance, dress-up and laugh all night. I’ve taught at at festivals, let my Soul loose at Burning Man and I have an ever expanding costume box. I was born to play.
I also have a solo-adventuring, mountain dwelling, poetry writing, ceremonial, spirit whispering side who prefers to go slow and observe things quietly. I am full of contrast and I am proud of it.
I see my work as a gift that I have been honored with. It is my dharma to traverse the whole range of human experience and support others to do the same.
I am a mama now to a sweet baby girl! Motherhood has reshaped me in ways I never knew possible. I am softer, wiser, more patient and tired because of it.
I am genuinely curious, love human connection and would love to know some things about you. Send me a message (on here or on IG @katemiddletonyoga) and tell me some things that make you, you!
